Road Safety Policy

All our business practices and standards are mandatory to ensure:

  • That our vehicles are roadworthy at all times.
  • Compliance with the driver selection policy
  • That all drivers will receive defensive driving training, including a practical assessment.
  • Compliance with the seat belt, drugs and alcohol, journey management, and mobile phone policy.
  • That drivers’ monthly remuneration is not linked to per trip or per km.
  • A driver reward scheme that promotes road safety performance.
  • That road safety related policies are understood by all staff.

All our drivers must follow our policies and a failure to do so may result in suspension and termination from employment.

 

Driver Recruitment Policy

It is important that our drivers follow our road safety policies and laws.

We are committed to engaging drivers who follow good road safety practices.

 

Night Driving Policy

Drivers should not drive their vehicles between 10pm and 6am, except for city or area specific entry/exit restrictions.

In case of violation in extreme situations, a driver must notify his road safety manager/supervisor the same day before commencing his journey.

 

Seat Belt Policy

All company vehicles should be fitted with seat belts for the driver and co-driver.

All drivers, co-drivers and employees travelling in company vehicles must wear a seat belt at all times.

 

Mobile Phone Policy

The use of mobile phones, including by hands-free devices, is not permitted while driving any vehicle on company business.

  • In accordance with the ‘Engine On, Mobile Off’ policy, all drivers must switch off their mobile phones before starting the vehicle.
  • In case of emergency only, the driver must park the vehicle in a safe space and turn off the engine before using a mobile phone.
